The Art Department at Hindu Girls’  College is as colorful as its activities running along with. It remains one of the most important departments with its services extended to each and  every event/activity/function happening at school.

Headed by Mrs Stella Maharaj (Head of Department),  Mrs. Neetu Ramluckhun, Mrs Selvina Udaiyan and Mr Desh Rao Ladkoo, these well-qualified teachers with over 10 years’  Teaching experience each,  provide necessary guidance and advice  to  pupils and parents.

The Art Department is comprised of 2 big, well-lit and  ventilated  rooms  (Rooms 1 & 2) with a seating capacity of 40 each. All art classes are being held in the Art Room  as from Grade 7 itself.,

In addition both rooms provide good amenities in terms of Internet access,   Overhead projector,  big screen projector,  laptops,  equipment and materials for Batik, Tie & Dye, storage of exams oriented courseworks for pupils, only to name a few. Moreover  the Audio Visual Room is just adjacent to the Art Room, hence facilitating screening of Audio Visual lessons subject to syllabus requirements,

The Art Department offers Art and Design as a subject at School Certificate Level (Grade 11) and Higher School Certificate (Grade 13).

The success of the Art Department knows no limits in its participation in extra-curricular activities at  both  National and International levels.  Year in, year out the Department has successfully enlisted participants to successfully  represent the school in competitions organised by  Rotary Clubs of the island,  themed Art exhibitions and competitions organised at Ministry’s level, the Rajiv Gandhi Science Exhibitions, Probation Homes, ICAC,  etc, the list being  not exhaustive here.  Similarly the Department  proudly holds a collection of Winning Shields and  Certificates in this respect.
